Fiber optics training environment inside a white-wall ProGeny Pod

16 planned online learning hours   |   3- or 5-day scheduled labs   |   Maximum 10 learners per lab cohort

Lab instruction is capped at 6.5 hours per day, excluding lunch and breaks. Online Foundations is knowledge preparation; hands-on skills are assessed in the lab.

Upcoming lab cohorts

December 7–11, 2026 · January 4–8, 2027 · February 1–5, 2027

Installer labs use the first three days; Technician labs use all five days. Complete required online preparation beforehand. Your enrollment confirmation provides the location, daily times and preparation deadline. Cohorts are limited to 10 participants across both pathways; staff confirm your selected cohort.

Start your enrollment

Live in Tennessee? Start here. Every Tennessee-resident applicant enters our ITA availability review, whether you expect to use a voucher, pay yourself or have employer sponsorship. This form begins enrollment; it does not charge you, reserve a seat, award a voucher or grant course access.

Zoie will contact you about next steps. The American Job Center determines eligibility and funding. Approval time varies; staff request an estimate from your assigned advisor. If seeking ITA funding, do not begin online coursework or labs before written authorization is approved and verified. There is no retroactive voucher funding or reimbursement after starting without prior authorization. Do not upload Social Security numbers or eligibility documents here.

Tennessee enrollment request

Zoie will contact you with next steps. Submitting this request does not charge you or start coursework.

We use your information to respond to this enrollment request. Staff obtain consent before sharing information with an external advisor.

Live outside Tennessee?

Request your self-pay enrollment below. Online payment is being connected; the academy will provide payment instructions and confirm your place. For lab packages, include your preferred cohort. If you already paid $495 for Foundations, tell us so we can verify and apply your credit. Employer-sponsored learners may request a booking and invoice.

Purchase terms

Lab cancellations require written notice at least 30 calendar days before the cohort starts. Timely cancellation receives a refund of the lab portion. One complimentary lab transfer is available with at least 30 days’ written notice, subject to seat availability. Late cancellations, no-shows and emergency exceptions require individual review. Foundations refund requests must be submitted within seven days of purchase. If ProGeny cancels, choose a transfer or refund for undelivered training. Send requests to pathways@progenyplace.org; refunds go to the original payer/payment method. External exam fees, take-home toolkit, travel and lodging are separate.

For cancellation calculations, Foundations is $495 and the lab portion is $2,000 (Installer) or $3,200 (Technician). Requests are reviewed against the original payment and any credit already applied; third-party payments follow the governing funding agreement.

A clear path from learning to lab

1. Choose your pathway

Start with Foundations or select an available installer or technician cohort. A lab reservation must name a confirmed date and location.

2. Build your foundation

Complete lessons, quizzes and workbook responses in your ProGeny Fiber Academy student portal. Staff review your work and provide correction instructions where needed.

3. Attend your scheduled lab

Practice under instructor supervision and demonstrate the requirements for your selected ProGeny award. External certification follows a separate process.

Already purchased Foundations? Your $495 Foundations tuition can be credited toward one full Installer or Technician pathway: remaining tuition is $2,000 or $3,200. Contact the academy before paying so staff can verify your original purchase and apply the credit. This is a full-pathway enrollment credit, not a two-day upgrade.

Build capability across your team

Book a private cohort for up to 10 participants, or ask about seats in a scheduled cohort. We document each participant’s learning and practical assessment evidence for employer reporting.

Tell us your team size, training goals, preferred dates, location and delivery format. If classroom Foundations is preferred, we will quote the instructional schedule needed to deliver the equivalent planned 16 hours before the lab program.

Inquiry → scope and quote → accepted booking terms and invoice → participant roster → ProGeny Fiber Academy student access → preparation and lab training → individual reports.

Private-cohort minimums, travel and any site-specific charges are confirmed in the quote.

Continue learning with your own toolkit

An optional take-home toolkit will be offered separately once contents, availability and pricing are confirmed. Tuition includes the use of academy equipment during labs. Purchasing a toolkit is not required to use that equipment, and it does not include a fusion splicer unless explicitly listed.

Know what you’re purchasing

Does this purchase include FOA or ETA certification?

No. ProGeny awards document our validated learning and practical requirements. External credentials have separate eligibility, assessment, testing-provider and fee requirements. We do not currently administer FOA or ETA exams or guarantee a pass.

Can I take the labs online?

The Foundations knowledge course is online. The three- and five-day labs are in person at a confirmed location. Any live online support is separate from the hands-on lab requirement.

Is completing this course the same as completing the pre-apprenticeship?

No. ProGeny’s Tennessee-certified Network and Telecommunications Specialist pre-apprenticeship has its own approved requirements. Staff must validate those requirements separately. Employment and Registered Apprenticeship opportunities have separate selection processes.

What should I confirm before paying for a lab package?

Review your pathway, total tuition, lab dates and purchase terms. Tennessee residents complete enrollment and ITA availability review before payment. Zoie verifies payment or funding authorization and confirms the cohort, location, daily schedule and preparation deadline.

How much notice is required to cancel a lab booking?

The lab portion is $2,000 for Installer and $3,200 for Technician; Foundations is $495. Existing Foundations credits and prior refunds are reconciled so no amount is refunded twice. Funding-source and employer agreements govern authorized third-party payments.
